Use of recycled PET as a concrete reinforcing material
Most poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) bottles become waste after their usage. This paper presents a method to recycle wasted PET as a concrete reinforcing material. The long-term durability performance of recycled PET fibers in the alkaline environment of cement matrix was measured. Recycled PET fibers showed reduced tensile strength. The chemical resistance of the PET against hydrolysis was improved by dip coating method in a solution of EVA copolymer.
